Mohegan Tribe gains support for casino bid in Massachusetts

The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut is seeing support for its casino bid in Massachusetts.

The Quaboag Hills Chamber of Commerce endorsed the tribe's plan for the Mohegan Sun Palmer. The tribe is one of four bidders for a casino in western Massachusetts.

"Mohegan Sun has always been committed to cultivating economic development in the regions where we operate. This endorsement shows that we are already working closely with local businesses in Western and Central Massachusetts," Mitchell G. Etess, the chief executive officer of the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority, said in a press release.

Other bidders for western Massachusetts include the Hard Rock International, which is owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida. MGM Resorts and Penn National Gaming are also bidding.
