Mashantucket Tribe extends negotiations on $2.2B casino debt

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut has extended negotiations for $2.2 billion in gaming-related debt.

The tribe incurred the debt through the operation and expansion of the Foxwoods Resort Casino. Restructuring would lower the amount owed to creditors to about $1.3 billion.

The tribe said it was waiting on a "declination letter" from the National Indian Gaming Commission that would affect the restructuring.
