The Forest County Potawatomi Tribe remains opposed to an off-reservation casino for the Menominee Nation.

The Potawatomis operate a casino in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Menominees are proposing a facility in Kenosha, about 40 miles away.

The Potawatomis "want to make sure that truly any project that is developed in Wisconsin will truly benefit Wisconsin tribes. It shouldn't be at the detriment of another tribe," spokesperson George Ermert told WJFW-TV.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs has issued a final environmental impact statement for the project. The Menominees are hoping for a decision this spring.
