Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe asks gaming panel for information

The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe is asking the Massachusetts Gaming Commission to disclose the names of lawmakers and consultants who have provided advice about gaming issues.

Commission members said they have spoken to others about opening up southeastern Massachusetts to non-Indian bidders. The tribe wants to know who is supplying the information.

“We are now in a situation where the Massachusetts Gaming Commission seems to be substituting their own judgment as to what the landscape should look like with the number of casinos in Massachusetts,” attorney Howard Cooper told Cape Cod Today.

The commission could vote next week on opening up the region.
