Arizona tribes report 1 percent decline in gaming revenues

Tribal gaming revenues fell 1 percent in the last quarter, according to the Arizona Department of Gaming.

Tribes shared nearly $24.1 million with the state. That's slightly lower than the $24.3 million they shared in the same quarter last year.

"I was a little surprised to see this decrease," Valerie Spicer, the executive director for the Arizona Indian Gaming Association, told Capitol Media Services. However, she said the 1 percent decline was not significant.

Under their Class III gaming compacts, tribes share a portion of revenues with the state. Since 2004, tribes have shared $856.5 million, according to the Department of Gaming.
