Tracie Stevens, the chairwoman of the National Indian Gaming Commission, might leave by the end of August, GamblingCompliance reports. Stevens is a citizen of the Tulalip Tribes of Washington. She joined the NIGC in June 2010. Under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act, the chair serves a three-year term so Stevens's tenure is ending. She could be re-nominated for the post but President Barack Obama hasn't made an announcement. If Stevens departs, the commission would be left with just one official member -- Dan Little, a non-Indian who is serving a second term as an associate member. The agency has been without a third member since January, when former vice chair Steffani Cochran, a citizen of the Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma, departed. Stevens has made tribal consultation a top priority during her time at the NIGC. Get the Story:
