San Manuel Band pushes bill to legalize Internet poker games

The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians is backing a bill to legalize Internet poker games in California.

Efforts to authorize online poker games were recently deemed "dead" for the year. But the tribe is optimistic with just three weeks left in the legislative session.

“We look forward to working with all interested parties on this effort,” Chairwoman Carla Rodriguez said in a statement, The Riverside Press-Enterprise reported.

Sen. Lou Correa (D) inserted language in SB 678 to authorize Internet poker for tribes and existing non-Indian card clubs.
