The Massachusetts House is due to vote on a Class III gaming compact for the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe on Wednesday. The compact authorizes Class III gaming at a site in Taunton, in the southeastern part of the state. The deal includes revenue sharing provisions but the tribe won't be required to contribute if a non-Indian casino opens in the region. "The tribe is very pleased that the compact is moving forward," Chairman Cedric Cromwell told The Cape Cod Times. "We praise the governor and the state for their leadership."
