Four on trial over unauthorized casino on Mohawk Reservation

Four men are on trial for operating a casino that not authorized by the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe of New York.

The Three Feathers Casino operated on the reservation from July 2011 to September 2012. It was not approved by the tribe, the state or the National Indian Gaming Commission, federal prosecutors said.

"It was illegal from start to finish," Assistant U.S. Attorney Miroslav Lovric told jurors, The Albany Times-Union reported.

The defendants are three Mohawks who ran the casino -- Anthony Laughing Sr., William Roger Jock and Thomas Angus Square. A fourth man, Joseph Hight, who allegedly supplied the gaming machines to the facility, is also on trial.
