Mohawk men acquitted over unauthorized gaming operation

Three men were acquitted for operating a casino that was not authorized by the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe of New York.

William Roger Jock and Thomas Angus Square, both Mohawk, were found not guilty after a six-week trial in federal court. A non-Indian casino vendor, Joseph Hight, also was acquitted.

The men were charged in connection with the Three Feathers Casino on the reservation. The facility opened in July 2011 and was shut down by federal authorities in September 2012.

Two other Mohawks were also charged. Anthony Laughing Sr.'s case was declared a mistrial while James Gray remains a fugitive.
