The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut is facing a February 25 election for its commercial casino in eastern Massachusetts.

The tribe originally proposed a casino in the western part of the state. But voters in the town of Palmer rejected the idea by 93 votes in a referendum held last November.

The tribe is now a part of the $1 billion Suffolk Downs project in the town of Revere. If voters there approve it, two companies will be in the running for the eastern Massachusetts license.

The license was to be awarded early this year but the Massachusetts Gaming Commission said the tribe could re-enter the process.
