Tribes testify in support of expanded gaming bills in Maine

Two Maine tribes are pushing the state Legislature to approve an expansion of gaming.

LD 1298 allows the Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians to operate slot machines and table games. LD 1520 authorizes slots and table games for the Passamaquoddy Tribe.

A non-Indian track is also seeking approval for slot machines. But the operators of two existing non-Indian casinos oppose an expansion of gaming.
