Leaders in Cherokee County, North Carolina, are predicting big business when the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians opens its second casino. The tribe broke ground on the $110 million Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel last October. One realtor in the county said the facility is expected to do 26 percent more business than the existing Harrah’s Cherokee Casino and Resort. The facility will feature a 60,000 square-foot casino with slot machines, table games and a 300-room hotel. A temporary structure will open this year, to be followed by a permanent building.
