Saskatchewan won't be selling two casinos to First Nations

The Saskatchewan government has dropped plans to sell two casinos to the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority.

Premier Brad Wall signed a memorandum of understanding with the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations for the casinos. But he dropped the idea after opposition leaders said they wouldn't agree to a deal.

FSIN Chief Perry Bellegarde, however, isn't giving up. The acquisition of the two casinos -- one in Regina and the other in Moose Jaw -- will create more opportunities for Native people, he said.

SIGA oversees six Native casinos in the province.
