Quapaw Tribe won't rule out casino on historic land in Arkansas

The Quapaw Tribe of Oklahoma is open to gaming in Arkansas, Chairman John Berrey said.

The tribe recently acquired 160 acres within its historic reservation in Arkansas. There are no plans for a casino at this point but Berrey said the idea is intriguing.

"I would never say never. We would love to help the state out in any fiscal situation. We would love to employ a lot of people," Berrey told KARK.

The tribe operates the Downstream Casino Resort, more than 280 miles from the newly acquired site. The gaming portion of the facility is located in Oklahoma while other portions are located in Missouri and Kansas so all three states have seen benefits.
