The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut is said to be interested in opening a commercial casino at a golf course in southeastern Massachusetts.

The tribe hasn't confirmed plans for a casino at the Whaling City Golf Course in New Bedford. But sources have told The New Bedford Standard-Times that negotiations are underway with the city.

The Aquinnah Wampanoag Tribe, incidentally, proposed a casino at the site back in the 1990s. "I thought when it fell through the last time it was over," a local business owner told the paper.
