The Seminole Tribe of Florida is now part of a commercial casino project in New York that includes the Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma.

The Seminole Tribe is putting the Hard Rock name on the proposed casino on the waterfront in Rensselaer. The facility, if approved by the state, would be managed by Global Gaming Solutions, a Chickasaw Nation subsidiary.

"Hard Rock International is thrilled to collaborate with NYS Funding LLC to potentially create a world class facility in Rensselaer within the Capital Region, as it would become an important economic engine for the community," Jim Allen, the chairman of Hard Rock International said in a press release. "We look forward to lending our global recognition, strong legacy of philanthropy and entertainment, and proven experience to this project. We are confident that this Hard Rock Hotel & Casino will positively impact the community's economy."

The site is across the Hudson River from Albany, the state capitol. The region is expected to receive one commercial gaming license.
