The White Mountain Independent named Justin Joe “Cowboy”Armstrong as the gunman who was fatally shot at the casino owned by the White Mountain Apache Tribe of Arizona. Armstrong, 28, was a tribal member. He was shot by a tribal police officer who responded to reports of gunfire at the Hon-Dah Resort and Casino on August 2. Armstrong's obituary was published in the Independent today. It noted that he died "unexpectedly" on August 2. According to the Associated Press, tribal police officers were told he pointed a gun at his wife last month. But they were unable to make contact with him. Armstrong apparently threatened his wife again at the casino before the shooting. She was able to get to safety with one of the couple's children. Get the Story:
