The Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians plans to add a second hotel tower to its casino in southern California. The tribe has completed an enviromental impact report for the addition at the Viejas Casino. Plans call for a six-story hotel with 128 rooms, basically doubling the number of existing rooms at the facility. "The proposed project would include additional gaming space, a kitchen in the basement, ballroom, pre-function terrace, meeting rooms, bar, and retail," the report states. The tribe just signed a new Class III gaming compact with California Gov. Jerry Brown (D). The deal eliminates a flat $17.4 million payment to the state and adopts a revenue sharing system based on percentages. A copy of the new compact can be found on the governor's website.
