The Muckleshoot Tribe won approval to operate a non-Indian racetrack in Washington.

The tribe purchased the 157 acres where Emerald Downs sits in 2004. The track then leased the land to continue operations.

The tribe is now going to run the facility outright. The Washington Horse Racing Commission approved the license request on Friday.

"The tribe's long-standing support of the state's thoroughbred racing industry continues with this transaction," Chair Virginia Cross in a statement, The Puget Sound Business Journal reported. "It is the tribe's goal to keep the thoroughbred horse racing industry as a viable part of our state's economy.

Tomorrow marks opening day at the track.
