Thomas St. Dennis: Don't let rival tribe stop Little River casino

Attorney Thomas J. St. Dennis criticizes the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe for opposing the $180 million off-reservation casino proposed by the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians:
After years of working together with the local community to bring a new casino to Muskegon County, an outside force is now trying to derail the project.

This attack on the Muskegon community is coming on the heels of the Bureau of Indian Affairs' announcement of an Oct. 15 public hearing on the proposed casino.

The attack is not coming from local residents — sadly it's coming from another Indian Tribe located 100 miles away in Mount Pleasant. The Saginaw Chippewa Tribe owns the Soaring Eagle Casino and Saganing Eagles Landing Casino and has a track record of opposing every new casino in the state since their first casino opened more than 20 years ago.

It seems they will say or do anything to stop another casino from opening because they don't want the competition as if they want to keep the Muskegon area as a simple feeder market that sends people to their casinos.
