Officials in Ridgecrest, California, continue to discuss a proposed casino agreement with the Timbisha Shoshone Tribe.

The agreement is on the agenda for a city council meeting on Wednesday. But a decision won't be made at that time because officials still want to hear from the public.

"We want to answer questions that were not asked the first time around," Mayor Peggy Breeden told The Ridgecrest Daily Independent

The tribe wants to build the casino at a site near the Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake. A land-into-trust application will be submitted to the Bureau of Indian Affairs as part of the process.

The project has stirred significant debate in the community. town hall last week drew a capacity crowd for a meeting that ran more than five hours.

Additional information about the casino and the agreement can be found in an agenda and a supplemental agenda from the council's earlier meetings.
