A member of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians says he wouldn't be alive without the help of employees at the tribe's casino in Michigan.

Frank Sams, 61, suffered a heart attack during a concert at the Leelanau Sands Casino and Lodge on June 11, WPBN reported. Security officer and emergency medical technician Mark Galla was the first on the scene and kept the elder alive with the help of tribal police officers.

"If there wouldn't have been anybody here I wouldn't have survived," Sams told the station.

Galla and his team received special achievement pins for their efforts, WPBN reported.
