Iowa Tribe delays launch of real money games on online poker site

A screenshot of PokerTribe.Com promises real play on October 15, 2016, later than the anticipated launch date of August 1, 2016.

August 1 came and went without real money games on PokerTribe.Com, a website owned by the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma.

The website now announces October 15 as the launch of "international real money play." The delay is being attributed to the need to secure approvals from foreign governments.

"We have completed each phase thoroughly and precisely," Bobby Walkup said in a press release. "The final phase is the most important for a successful launch with the real money play, which is why we are rescheduling our launch date

The tribe won the right to offer online poker as part of its Class III gaming compact. Patrons must be based outside of Oklahoma.

The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 outlaws Internet gaming unless it is conducted pursuant to a Class III gaming compact or under state law.
