The tribe will be adding a 300-room hotel and 21,000 square-feet of gaming space to the Sycuan Casino, The East County Californian reported. Plans also include a 2,030-car parking garage, a restaurant, a spa and fitness center and an outdoor area with two swimming pools.

The work, dubbed phase one, is expected to start in January or February, the paper reported. The project cost is an estimated $220 million, a tribal official said.

“It’s an economic development project that will help the tribe’s economy and will create hundreds of non-native jobs for the surrounding community, as well as expand our entertainment offerings,” Adam Day, the tribe's assistant tribal manager, told the paper.

Phase two includes another hotel tower and a second parking garage, according to the tribal environmental impact statement.
