Pascua Yaqui Tribe prepares citizens for casino management jobs

The Pascua Yaqui Tribe is preparing its own citizens for management jobs at its gaming operation.

About 60 percent of the employees at the Casino Del Sol facilities in Arizona are Yaqui, according to a press release. The new Tribal Succession Program will ensure they are also represented in top executive positions.

"We are confident that this program will be executed in such a way that the individuals who move into executive management will be well prepared for those positions," Chairman Robert Valencia said in the press release. "This approach will ultimately lead to the appointment of a Pascua Yaqui Tribal member who will be successful in the CEO role. We are very excited to move forward with this program."

Kim Van Amburg, who just renewed her contract as chief executive officer at the casino, will help train her eventual replacement. Her contract ends in three years.
