Choctaw Nation extends partnership with Major League Baseball team

The Choctaw Nation has extended its partnership with the Texas Rangers, with its gaming enterprise serving as the "exclusive" casino for the Major League Baseball team.

The deal, announced on Thursday, will result in Choctaw Casinos & Resorts enjoying significant branding at the Major League Baseball team's new stadium. It includes signage and space at the Globe Life Park, set to open in March 2020, and at the neighboring Texas Live! entertainment district.

“We are proud to join the Texas Rangers family in ushering in this new era of Texas Rangers Baseball,” Chief Gary Batton said in a press release. “A new ballpark, a great team, and two strong entertainment brands mean more fun and excitement for the fans and for the region. We’re committed to helping the Texas Rangers take America’s favorite pastime to the next level in North Texas.

The tribe offers gaming at eight locations in neighboring Oklahoma. The enterprise includes a flagship facility in Durant, not far from the Texas border, an important gaming market.

The casino is undergoing a $500 million expansion that's due to be completed by the spring of 2021. The project will bring 1,000 additional hotel rooms to the property, plus a larger gaming floor, a parking garage, new retail and dining options, plus other amenities.

The casino in Durant is about 100 miles north of the new Rangers stadium.
