A judge ordered the police department in Vancouver, British Columbia, to pay a Native woman $5,500 for a random drug search.
Margaret Willie was accused of dealing drugs in downtown Vancouver. She was forced to submit to a search on he street, which turned up nothing.
Frightened by the incident, Willie took the police department to court. A judge sided with her and said the police traumatized and falsely detained her.
"I used to like to see them but now I go out of my way when I see them," Willie told CBC News.
