Men charged for rape, murder of Navajo woman

Three men will go to trial for the rape and murder of Nicole Leigh Redhorse, a Navajo woman who was killed in Durango, Colorado.

Harold Nakai, 34, was Redhorse's on-and-off boyfriend, according to The Farmington Daily Times. He allegedly admitted to having intercourse with Redhorse at a motel in Durango.

Derrick Nelson Begaye, 24, and Begay's uncle Carlton Lee Yazzie, 38, also told police they had sex with Redhorse. All four had been drinking -- with Redhorse's blood-alcohol content five times the .08 legal limit.

Redhorse died of a body wound, the coroner's report said. But she could have been saved had she received medical attention, an investigator said.
