Ute Mountain Ute man retains state commission post

Ernest House Jr., a member of the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe, has been asked to stay on as executive secretary of the Colorado Commission of Indian Affairs.

House has served on the commission since 2005. He was asked to stay by Lt. Gov. Barbara O'Brien (D) and Gov. Bill Ritter (D).

In the coming year, House hopes to focus on race relations, crime and repatriation. The commission includes representatives from the state and from the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe and the Southern Ute Tribe.
