Soo Tribe director sentenced for drug, DUI arrests

A member of the board of directors of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians of Michigan was sentenced to 183 days on drug and DUI charges.

But Todd K. Gravelle, 36, will only serve five days in county jail. The judge held the rest of the sentence in abeyance and his drug charge will be taken off the record following completion of his sentence, The Soo Evening News reported.

Gravelle was charged after police found him with a small amount of methadone in March 2006. A few months later, he was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

The judge ordered Gravelle to pay about $2,000 in fines.
