Fort Peck couple sentenced for stealing funds

A couple from the Fort Peck Reservation in Montana were sentenced for stealing federal funds meant for the Fort Peck Tribes.

Desiree Dean Kirn Lambert, 51, and her husband, Bernard Lambert, 58, were each given a year and three years of supervised release. Desiree Lambert was ordered to pay $13,855 restitution and Bernard Lambert was ordered to pay $12,000 restitution.

Lambert, the former director of the Fort Peck Tribes Department of Education, paid her husband $12,000 for grants he never wrote. The couple used the money to help pay for their daughter's college tuition.
