Donation helps Sisseton-Wahpeton food pantry

A donation of venison helped the Sisseton-Wahpeton Sioux Tribe feed families on its reservation in North and South Dakota.

The tribe's food pantry was running out of money and reserves. That's when Ken Harty, the director of Child Protective Service for the tribe, heard about a group called Sportsmen Against Hunger.

The group donated 475 pounds of venison to the pantry. Along with other donations of deer burger and prepared pheasants, Harty was able to feed the 30 or 40 families who depend on the tribe's service.
