White Earth Band considers ethanol plant

The White Earth Band of Ojibwe Indians in Minnesota is considering building an ethanol plant on its reservation.

Chairwoman Erma Vizenor testified about the proposal before a state Senate on Tuesday. She said the plant could generate revenues and jobs on her economically depressed reservation.

The tribe is seeking the state's help with the project. A bill would authorize $300,000 so the University of Minnesota could conduct a feasibility study.
