Girl attacked by dogs on Yakama Reservation

A four-year-old girl was mauled by a pack of dogs on the Yakama Reservation in Washington last week.

The girl suffered bites to her head and back and needed stitches, The Yakima Herald-Republic reported. She was released from the hospital this week.

The attack occurred in Wapato, a town on the reservation. Police Chief Richard Sanchez said the dogs apparently come from a Yakama Nation housing project.

Sanchez has said the tribe isn't doing enough to address unruly dogs. Two years ago, a 4-year-old boy was mauled in Wapato. Dog attacks have been on the rise since then, Sanchez said.
