Blackfeet Nation hopes to make money from timber sale

The Blackfeet Nation of Montana hopes to make at least $3 million from the sale of timber.

The tribe was hit by two fires that destroyed 30 percent of the reservation's forest land. The most recent blazed occurred last fall and destroyed 15,000 acres.

The tribe has hired timber companies and loggers to salvage timber on 6,000 acres. Tribal officials hope the sale will help resolve budget shortfalls.
