Ute law student to receive honorary diploma

The law school at the University of Utah will award an honorary diploma to David Cuch, a member of the Ute Tribe who died unexpectedly at the age of 28.

David died of a seizure-related attack at his home, his father, Forrest Cuch, said. David was just weeks away from finishing his degree at the S.J. Quinney College of Law.

David was the first Ute tribal member to attend the school. "If he would have lived, he would have left many marks in this world," his father told The Daily Utah Chronicle. Forrest Cuch is the executive director of the Utah Office of Indian Affairs.

A memorial service will be held April 9 at the law school. The commencement takes place in May.
