Native Voice newspaper relocates to Colorado

The Native Voice newspaper has moved its offices to Colorado after five years of operating in South Dakota.

Frank King, a member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe, and Lise Balk King publish the paper. They said the move to Longmont, just outside of Boulder, makes it easier for them to serve Indian Country.

"We decided that as a national Native newspaper, we could better serve the tribes and our readership by being in the hub city of Denver," they said. "We weighed many options and their consequences and decided that this move was the best decision for our long-term growth and opportunities."

The paper will continue to be printed in South Dakota, where some staff will remain. A second printing location is being added in the Denver area to better serve the Southwest.

With the National Congress of American Indians annual meeting coming up this year and the Democratic National Convention in 2008, Frank King said the move was well-timed. "These events are indicative of the reasons why such a move will prove positive" for the operation, he said.

Along with the move, the paper will debut a new web site on April 15 at http://www.thenativevoice.com. The current URL is http://www.nativevoicemedia.com.
