Alaska Native group challenges drilling project

An Alaska Native group called Resisting Environmental Destruction On Indigenous Lands is challenging a decision to allow exploratory in the Beaufort Sea

The Mineral Management Service approved Shell Oil's plan to look for oil off the north coast of Alaska. The drilling is supposed to start in June.

But REDOIL says drilling would harm subsistence hunting and fishing. Along with several conservation groups, REDOIL is asking the Department of the Interior's Board of Land Appeals to revisit the environmental assessment for the project.
