Fort Berthold woman can't return to tribal job

The Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation of North Dakota won't allow a woman accused of murdering her son to return to work in the tribe's early childhood program.

Chairman Marcus Wells Jr. said Dana Deegan can't work for the tribe pending resolution of the case. She is accused of killing her son shortly after his birth, sometime in 1998 or 1999

Deegan has been released to the custody of her mother to await trial. She can't be allowed to be around children without adult supervision.
