Native baby was abandoned in Wal-Mart bathroom

A newborn boy who was found in a Wal-Mart bathroom in Saskatchewan has been released to the care of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band.

The boy was discovered by a store employee on May 21. He was hospitalized and released to the tribe's Child and Family Services agency.

The tribe says the mother is a band member. She came forward and is being hospitalized for an infection. She was interviewed by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police but no charges have been filed.
