Arapaho man lives in underground bunker

An Arapaho man has built himself an underground bunker in Buffalo, New York.

Clarence Rounds, 47, used to live on Squaw Island but had to leave when it was cleaned up and turned into a park. So he decided to build a new home underground

It took about two years for Rounds, who grew up in an orphanage, to dig the bunker. He read engineering books to determine how to keep the structure safe and sound.

"I got books on roof framing, post framing, and things like that, so that I would have the formulas available to calculate the loads properly so the roof wouldn't collapse on me while I was sleeping," he told First Coast News.

Rounds says his neighbors don't mind his presence. He makes money doing landscaping, construction and roofing. jobs. He says he's happy with his life.

:Life in general is pretty good. I don't think of my life as being bad. Life is just a continuation of yesterday," he says.
