Former Oglala Sioux treasurer facing new charges

David Rabbit Sr., the former treasurer of the Oglala Sioux Tribe of South Dakota, faces a slew of new tribal charges, including spousal abuse, in addition to federal theft charges.

Rabbit was arrested May 1 on federal charges but was released on a personal recognizance bond. On May 23, he was arrested by the tribe for spouse abuse, assault, eluding police, and failure to stop for a pedestrian light.

Federal prosecutors want Rabbit's bond revoked in light of the tribal charges. He is due to go to trial in the federal case on August 14.
