CARE center aims to help children in need

The new Child and Adolescent Referral and Evaluation Center at the Crow/Northern Cheyenne Hospital in Montana aims to help young victims of physical and sexual abuse.

CARE is a joint effort of the Crow Tribe, the Northern Cheyenne Tribe, the Indian Health Service and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. It is located at the hospital on the Crow Reservation.

The center will provide a multidisciplinary approach, with child psychologists, pediatricians and clinical social workers on staff to address child abuse. It was designed to protect the privacy of children and families, and to ensure tribal culture was respected.

Tribal and federal officials dedicated the center on Tuesday.
