Navajo Nation vice president arrested for speeding

Navajo Nation Vice President Ben Shelly was arrested on Saturday after he was clocked going 92mph in a 55mph zone, The Gallup Independent reports.

Shelly was pulled over by a tribal police officer in Dilkon, Arizona. He said he was running late to a tribal meeting.

The officer asked Shelly to sign a personal recognizance form but he refused. So he was arrested and the tribal vehicle he was using was impounded.

Shelly was elected last fall as the running mate of President Joe Shirley Jr.
