Navajo Nation Council approves $50K for rings

The Navajo Nation Council approved an appropriations measure last week that includes a special gift for delegates -- rings.

The rings will cost $50,000. That's about $568 for each of the 88 delegates to the council.

"It's an unwise use of Navajo people's money," delegate Leonard Tsosie, a former state senator, told the Associated Press. Delegate Kee Allen Begay had another view: "I would say we deserve something."

Navajo Nation President has yet to act on the measure.
