Native American Music Award nominees announced

The nominees for the ninth annual Native American Music Awards were announced on Monday.

Brulé and AIRO (American Indian Rock Orchestra) received five nominations, the most of any performer or group. Paul LaRoche, the founder of Brulé and AIRO, is also up for Artist of the Year.

Other multiple nominees include Arigon Starr, Jana and Keith Secola. First-timers include Native Era, a South Dakota hip-hop outfit up for Debut Duo or Group of the Year.

The ceremony takes place October 6 at the Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel in Niagara Falls, New York.
