Pauma Band buys land for organic farm

The Pauma Band of Mission Indians has purchased an 85-acre organic farm in San Diego County.

The tribe paid $1.4 million for the land and will lease it to the Tierra Miguel Foundation to operate the farm. The tribe agreed to be sued if the land is ever used for non-agricultural purposes.

"The Pauma Band of Mission Indians has a long history and tradition of practicing environmental stewardship," Chairman Chris Devers said in a statement.
