Tribes host 14th annual Standing Bear Pow Wow

Six tribes in Oklahoma kick off their 14th annual Standing Bear Pow Wow on Friday.

The powwow is hosted by the Kaw Nation, the Osage Nation, the Otoe-Missouria Tribe, the Pawnee Nation, the Ponca Tribe and the Tonkawa Tribe. The tribes expect between 3,000 to 6,000 to attend this year's event, held in Ponca City.

Organizers are particularly proud this year because the American Bus Association named the powwow one of the top 100 events in the U.S. "I've been sworn to secrecy for months,” T.L. Walker told The Oklahoman. "We could not be more excited about it.”
