South Dakota court hears boarding school case

The South Dakota Supreme Court on Monday heard oral arguments in two boarding school cases.

Former students at the St. Paul's School and the St. Francis Mission School say they were abused. They are suing the churches that ran the schools.

The churches say the students waited too long to file suit. A judge in the St. Paul's agreed and dismissed the case but the judge in the St. Francis case said it could proceed.

According to state law, lawsuits over sexual abuse must be filed within three years of the alleged abuse or within three years of when the alleged abuse was discovered.
